I'm a bit confused about the strep throat graph. What qualifies as an "encounter"? Are encounters only visits with with a possible strep infection, or would something like a broken arm qualify as an encounter?

I also liked the video embedded in the New Yorker article about Kelly Slater's wave machine. Having surfed growing up, I think that thing is an abomination to surfing.
